Composite Motorcycle Exhaust

CUSTOMER REQUEST

Local motorcycle shop that specialized in exhaust systems was constantly receiving requests for installation of composite exhaust systems due to their special acoustic properties resulting in roaring sound.

Customer contacted CTT looking for a series of composite exhaust solutions that he could fit on various models of motorcycles.

CHALLENGE

Prior to this project, CTT had limited experience with acoustics, and requirements for sound were limited to “it needs to sound cool”. In addition, proper considerations needed to be made for operating temperature and cycles in temperature impacting longevity of the product.

SOLUTION

CTT experimented with various shapes, studying the effects on the sound of the exhaust. Once a desired sound was achieved, material needed to be engineered in order to meet the operating requirements.

In the end, CTT delivered multiple sets of exhausts to the customers on time and on budget. CTT is offering these products for sale to motorcycle parts distributors.
